Discovery of Nebula Discus
Discovery
(written and submitted by Winnie and Conrad - Creative Discus)
This discus came into Teoh’s hands half by chance. He bought seven Ghost discus from a well-known discus breeder without knowing the genetic build-up (those that has been used for crossing). A total of seven discus each with different genetic build-up. He got a pair shortly and they produced a batch of fries but when they reached 1 inch it was less then impressive (very dark and dull in colour) and shortly the male came into complication and died.
Shaken but not dishearten he tries to pair up the female with another male from the same batch. Success came within a week. The new male performed its duty well. This time when the fries reached 1 inch, Teoh noticed something different about this batch. It had yellowish base colour and some patches of red are starting to appear just below the dorsal fin.
Excitement ran rampant in Teoh’s mind; he quickly told and showed his wife his discovery. Not been in the discus circle for long, he was in doubt whether it is a new strain or if this type has already been in the market.

As the batch grew bigger (2.5 inch) he notice that the body starts to turn white covering the yellow base only leaving the forehead yellow and the part below the dorsal with more intense red. He started to ask around close friends if they have come across such a discus. When we paid a visit to Teoh’s farm, he shows us this discus. After looking and evaluating it’s genetic through its colours and markings, we told him it could be a Gold Cap or Golden Ghost cross. Golden Ghost has been in the market for quite some time and many have crossed it with many other strains of discus, but this particular strain is one of the most beautiful we have seen.
He then kindly asks us to come up with a name befitting this beauty.
